![]() It's quite simple and if you have any mechanical ability should be a snap. Don't force it as the stock from the checkering on the fore arm forward is quite thin.and it's old.and if you don't take your time it can break or crack. Remove the two action screws and CAREFULLY wiggle the barreled action out of the stock. Using something that will fit into the hole in the front of the magazine bottom plate, (a pencil using the eraser end always works pretty good and for over a century the nose of a bullet has been used), press the magazine release down and turn the bottom plate 180 degrees either way and pull the magazine out of its well. Remove the nose cap screw, remove the screw for the front sling swivel, remove the wood screw at the rear of the trigger guard then remove the trigger guard. There is also the screw that goes through the front sling swivel and the tiny screw in the nose cap. one in front of the magazine and one behind the rear trigger. On the bottom of the rifle there is two action screws. The barreled action has to come out of the stock, that's what "pull it down" means. No sir, there's nothing there that can't be seen in the first pictures. Even some 125 years on I don't believe there is yet a smoother action. Yes sir, silky smooth is a description that's been used since the first one came out.
